HELLO! My loyal readers, I hope everyone is having a wonderful week filled with positive vibes. Week two/three of being plant-based has definitely been easier. I have discovered different foods and alternatives to meat. I am craving meat-less as the days go by. I have been enjoying the meals that Nicole Mejia has been sending us weekly which makes the challenge way smoother.
My body stills feels energetic. I haven’t had any weightloss this week. Which is not too discouraging since I have been lifting four times a week. I am hoping a lot of fat could be turning into muscle(fingers crossed). One thing that I am worried about is my skin. I haven’t had any breakouts or anything like some of the girls that are doing the challenge with me. I did further research and it depends on your skin and the type of condiments and meat replacements the person decides to take. I know plenty of vegans that have struggled with skin issues since they become vegan… I’m still looking for ways to prevent this from happening. I will be going to NYC for a week, I was concerned at first with my challenge but a lot of the workouts are body weight workouts on the fit & thick app and New York does not disappoint in the amount of options it has for vegan dinning.
I do see health different. Specially when It comes to fats. Many people think because you are plant-based that you eat healthy. This is not necessarily true. Many vegan foods may contain low protein but high fats. Since we vegans cannot consume a lot of things we rely on French fries 🍟 and certain candies to calm our cravings. Just because people are plant based doesn’t mean this way of eating is the healthiest . According to women’s health, vegan’s are more prone to eating high sugar foods and French fries than meat eaters. This challenge has taught me no matter what diet you choose is all about your macros, calorie deficit, and clean eating. I still have two weeks of this journey. Not sure what the right diet is but I know that cutting out certain fats and sugars is a must.
Overall, I am SURVIVING and I will try and complete this challenge successfully! I have not been watching my fats and that could be a problem, Ive been eating way way too many french fires and not enough greens. I need to keep my eyes on the prize and remain motivated. I am beginning to love my body in certain clothes and feeling more confident ….can’t start getting lazy on the weekends!!

You should definitely look into the ethics and environmental aspects behind it as well. I have a blog post up on that 🙂
